The Venue
First, let’s just all agree that Grass Room in DTLA is one of the coolest wedding venues on the planet. The 1920’s building has been home to a variety of eras — from an oyster company, and ice cream factory and even a marujuana cultivation plant — hence the name, Grass Room. If you’re looking for a sort of kooky, offbeat and colorful backdrop for your wedding, Grass Room could be your spot. Or you can check out Marvimon’s sister venues — Valentine, Millwick, SmogShoppe and Flora Chang.

The Wedding Story
In my first meeting with Raven & Christian, I knew they’d be a perfect fit for Cheers Babe. They described their wedding day vision as extremely colorful, generally non-traditional (or in Raven’s words, irreverent) with a nod to Raven’s Sri Lankan heritage and a party their guests would never forget — from a choreographed first dance to a tarot and tea leaves reader to a family style meal fit for the gods.
For the ceremony, Raven stunned in her fuchsia sari and Christian turned heads with his dapper Emerald suit custom cut by Klein Epstein & Parker. Speaking of fashion moments at this wedding … you know that feeling when you get right before you’re going to surprise someone you love?
👏 Giddy.
🦋 Butterflies.
🫦 Anticipation.
Raven was feeling alllllllll the feels as she changed into her custom ivory suit and bustier. She had Christian convinced that her reception look was a dress. She’d been calling it her “second dress” that she’d change into after her more traditional ceremony sari.
Her sneaky rouse made for such a satisfying surprise for her groom — Christian was floored. I think he fell in love with her EVEN MORE in that moment.
Since she had embroidered a few personal touches on the jacket, seeing those pulled on his heartstrings and moved him to tears. It’s a moment that lives rent free in my mind!
Beyond memorable surprises, these two created a one-of-a-kind day for their guests with the help of planner prince, Priyan of Alfred House Productions. They also worked with my favorite florist in LA, Inessa Nichols (I’m biased — she did my wedding too)! You can hear all about their planning process from Raven herself in their feature on Rock N Roll Bride Magazine.
