Babes, meet Caitlin! She and I had so much fun running around Pac Heights and Sutro Baths for her entrepreneur session. Caitlin is an AMAZING, uber talented wedding photographer based in Napa Valley – you have to check out her work! When I asked her to describe what her photography business is all about the first word of of her mouth was hospitality. How good is that!? This gal loves to care for her clients well and shows up to serve. I love her heart for her couples! She drinks an iced tea every day – so of course we made sure to capture that so she can share it with her followers. She also loves the ocean and squishing her toes in the sand, so we made sure to hit up the beach at Sutro Baths for some sand & sun. I love those little things about my clients that make them unique!

If you are an entrepreneur or business owner (especially a female one 💪!) and you keep telling yourself, “I need photos for social so bad!”, you are right & I encourage you to book a session! I can’t tell you the difference it’s made in my own business to put myself out there & let people see the face that’s usually behind the camera. It’ll help people get to know you, remember you & want to do business with you. I love doing these kind of sessions, so hit a sista up, anytime. 🙂

A couple weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending the Yellow Conference in Downtown Los Angeles. Yellow Co. describes the conference as “a gathering of creative women who are making an impact and using their gifts, skills and talents to serve the greater good. The ones who are willing to roll up their sleeves, step out in courage, and use their creativity for good”. The speakers were so inspiring to me, listening to how they’ve used their creativity, taken ownership of their gifts and calling and impacted lives around them.

The conference was extra fun for me because I went with my gal pals, Lindsay & Praise! We arrived a couple days earlier, hung out in Venice Beach and spent an afternoon on the Swan paddle boats in Echo Park – a highlight for me, I must say 😂. I’ll bring you along on those fun moments below & also share a few of my favorite take-away quotes from the Yellow Conference that I managed to scribble down!

I even ran into an old friend, Meredith! Love with these things happen 🙂

An extra fun fact: The conference was held at the venue I was married at! So fun to go back and explore Hudson Loft & all of it’s new & beautiful additions to the space!

Natalie is a huge source of encouragement and positivity to myself personally and to literally thousands of other entrepreneurs! Go follow her journey and make sure to check out the blog she wrote recently about her story of courage, resilience & vulnerability. Couples, families of couples, friends of couples, I have some exciting news for you. I’m now offering album sales in Registry form!

What does that mean? It means you can gift (or ask your friends & fam to gift) a timeless keepsake – a custom designed wedding album. I remember when I got married, I wanted a wedding album so badly, but it was simply out of our budget since we were focused more on the day itself – I’m sure a lot of you find yourselves in that boat. That’s why you can now add one of these gorgeous books to your wedding registry! It gives me so much joy to see my clients’ wedding day in print and bound in these gorgeous albums that will literally last a lifetime. Even your kids will flip through these someday – whoa, anyone else feeling teary-eyed? Okay – moving on.

These archival albums are bound by hand (like, by humans!) and come with a lifetime guarantee. Each page is super thick & mounted and the custom design process is seamless for my clients and fun. There is nothing quite like seeing your most favorite images come to life on your coffee table!

How do you get a keepsake album on your coffee table? All you have to do is contact Jess (moi) at cheersbabephoto@gmail.com to purchase (pricing details below). For couples, there are great registry resources like Zola, Simple Registry and MyRegistry that allow you to add items from any site, so it should be easy to link this there. This is such a special gift and I can pretty much guarantee that it’ll be cherished for a very long time.

*Multiple people can contribute to a wedding albumSimply make a note in your email.

Album Registry | The Wedding Gift You’ll Have Forever

Lifestyle, Wedding

Hey Babes! Jess here. I want to introduce you to my uber-creative gal pal, Randi! Today she’ll be sharing how to pull off the perfect destination bachelorette party & I can’t wait for you to reap the benefits. Take it away, girl!

How to Pull Off a Destination Bachelorette Party by Cheers Babe

Oh, hi! I’m Randi, owner of Kay & Co Weekends, a fun little company based in Charleston, South Carolina that specializes in planning party weekends & bachelorettes! We help with everything from decorations to itineraries to reservations for our party weekenders, so you might say we know a thing or two about destination bachelorettes. And luckily for you, we’re offering up some of our best tips so you can plan your best weekend ever!

Whether you’re a maid of honor planning your bestie’s bachelorette party or received the dubious honor of organizing the girls’ weekend away that your friends want to take – getting a big group somewhere for a destination weekend can be tough! We’ve compiled four ideas to make your weekend away as smooth as possible and fun for the whole group. Let’s get ready to party!

Send out invitations way in advance

Your girls will need to book flights, so give them a chance to shop around and find the best deal! This also allows people to clear their calendars ahead of time so that you can get a final headcount long before the actual trip, which helps with booking a house or hotel rooms, too. You can find lots of cute invitations on Etsy or other online shops that can be customized to your party, which will get the girls excited and set the mood for the whole weekend!

How to Pull Off a Destination Bachelorette Party by Cheers Babe

Check Airbnb, VRBO, and local realty companies for beach houses or downtown lofts that everyone can share

What better way to bond with the whole group than by sharing a rental house on the beach or somewhere in the city that you’re visiting? Sharing a common space, rather than having separate rooms in a hotel, has multiple perks:

  • you can buy snacks and drinks to keep in the kitchen for a quick breakfast or late-night munching;
  • all the girls can get ready for dinner or a big night out together, as well as hang in the living room or kitchen to recount their night out (and maybe nurse a hangover in the morning);
  • if you’re doing something as a group like a private bubbly tasting or a cooking class, you can do it right there in the house rather than having to rent a local space;
  • and last but not least, splitting a house or another shared space is often a lot cheaper than getting separate hotel rooms!

How to Pull Off a Destination Bachelorette Party by Cheers Babe

Book activities ahead of time & talk to the girls about what they want to do

Don’t be that girl who’s going to “see what’s up when they get there.” Most activities, as well as reservations, will book well in advance for groups bigger than six, especially in cities like Charleston, Nashville, and Austin that attract a lot of bachelors and bachelorettes. Look into unique activities like local classes (things like flower crown crafting and jewelry making), private cocktail tours of local bars (which puts a spin on plain old bar hopping), and group rates on outdoor shenanigans like tubing, stand-up paddle boarding, waterskiing, or sunset cocktail cruises.

How to Pull Off a Destination Bachelorette Party by Cheers Babe

Don’t skip the gifts and favors

The bachelorette party scene has gotten a little cliché – keep it unique by sending out party boxes before your trip to get the girls excited, and include things that they’ll actually want to wear and use. Carry-on cocktail kits are always appreciated for the plane (these can be DIY-ed or bought pre-made), and pins are a more subtle way to show off that you’re in the bride squad. Toss in an itinerary that matches your original invitations so the girls can see what they’ll be getting into during the weekend, or better yet, include goodies that give hints as to what you’ll be doing but keep the full itinerary a surprise!

How to Pull Off a Destination Bachelorette Party by Cheers Babe

That’s all for now, y’all! Hopefully these simple tricks help you take your party weekend over the top! And psst: if you’re heading to Charleston, South Carolina, visit our website at www.kayandcoweekends.com to learn more about how we can plan you the best weekend ever — & we’re always partying on Insta at @kayandcoweekends + @chsbubblybar!

Randi

Can you babes believe it’s February!? That’s right, Valentine’s Day is almost here! I’m replacing this month’s trend report with some Valentine’s Day date ideas. I know, I know, this holiday can hold a ton of cheesy, lame memories for many of us or even embarrassing moments we’d rather forget. But before you stop reading, can I share a little V-day history with you? #Nerd4Luv

the legend of st. valentine

Although the specifics around the history of Valentine’s day and the patron Saint Valentine are somewhat of a mystery, February has long been celebrated as a month of romance in Western culture. Legend has it, during the reign of Roman Emperor Claudius II, marriage was outlawed for young men because the leaders believed that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and children. #Sexist #NotCoolBro … was exactly what St. V said! (In so many words). Valentine made a habit of marrying young couples in love in secret and when he was caught, was killed for his actions. Cue the music … “I believe in a thing called love! Just listen to the rhythm of my heart!”

is valentine’s day worth the hassle?

Restaurants are expensive and crowded. There’s so much pressure. I feel obligation to buy chocolate and flowers and ugly jewelry all of a sudden. Slowwww your roll, my friend. Lemme give you a few simple reasons that I think will convince you otherwise.

don’t celebrate on the 14th.

You said it yourself — restaurants hike their menu prices, reservations fill up months in advance, and literally every table is full & the waiter is lingering for his tip before his next big ticket arrives. Simple solution? Celebrate valentine’s day on a different day! My bae and I plan on snagging a reservation at our fave SF restaurant next week (over a week before v-day) to get our fancy on.

eliminate tech

No matter what you do to celebrate or where you go, make a commitment to eliminate technology. Turn your phone on do not disturb or off and just talk. This can be a bigger romantic gesture than a box of chocolates and a dozen red roses combined.

write a love letter

Most love letters these days come in the form of text messages or public instagram declarations of love, but what’ll truly swoop bae off their feet is a hand made letter. We get to save and cherish these things – I have a whole box of ’em from Chris (that’s my boo in case you didn’t know) who scribbles notes on anything from the back of a receipt to a perfectly designed & formal letter. These are some of my most prized possessions to this day.

plan a romantic night in

I love at-home date nights because I love to be cozy in my PJs and snuggled on the couch. Light some candles and turn on a little Italian Jazz for some ambiance during dinner, then enjoy a glass of wine with your Netflix binge.

staycation

If you’ve got a little bit of wanderlust, but not a lotta days off, take a staycation and spend the night at a gorgeous hotel in the town you live in. Grab a drink, order room service, take a bubble bath & have breakfast in bed before you go back to work.

self-care for each other

This can be as elaborate as you make it. It could mean you book massages at the best spa in town, or maybe it means putting face masks on each other, taking a goofy selfie of it and ending the evening with a foot massage.

go on a second first date

Revisit your first date spot for Valentine’s day this year! Take a trip down memory lane and talk to each other about what was going through your heads at every moment. Being in the place you first met may even trigger a memory you had long forgotten.

Final Thoughts

Embrace the cheesiness of this sappy little holiday (ESPECIALLY if you’re engaged) because, ya know what, it’s fun! Happy Valentine’s day to you and your Bae!!

I have such a fun session to share with you guys today! Lemme introduce you to Jenna + Jeramie who have been married for 14 years and still have the affection & playfulness of newlyweds. These two cuties live in LA, and are die-hard MOIC (museum of ice cream) fans. So much so, they’ve visited the LA location 3 times already and on their recent trip to SF had to experience the MOIC here!

I was lucky enough to tag along with them on their visit. I had such a blast with these two and so inspired by their desire for play and fun in their relationship. It just shows that they are “mint-to-be”! View the full feature on Wedding Chicks!!!

What better location for your San Francisco holiday photos than the Painted Ladies, themselves? I love this iconic SF spot and was so thrilled to be able to photograph Crystal (of Orange Blossom Special Events!) and Travis’ Christmas photos this year. It was raining a little bit at the beginning of our session, so we walked up the street to The Mill, a great little coffee spot to grab something warm before the session. Turns out coffee shop pictures are cute too!

This session was extra special because Crystal & Travis recently moved to the Bay Area from LA (just like I did about a year ago!). Crystal & I met last year at a wedding industry event and I was so honored that she remembered me. Cheers to the two of you and your new adventure in NorCal!

No one knows how to set up a gorgeous holiday tablescape like ma girl Kellyne of Hand & Heart Events! Hear her thoughts below on where she got her inspiration for this holiday tablescape shoot and get inspired to execute your own special table to gather your loved one’s around!

Hand & Hearts Events Holiday Tablescape with Cheers Babe Photo

Hey there! Kellyne here 🙂

Living in Northern California, I am surrounded by natural beauty —  from the Pacific Ocean, to the cliffs of Big Sur, to the redwood trees of Muir Woods. The tall, towering redwood trees can only be described as Redwood Giants and serve as the most enchanting background. The lush greenery and dewy sunlight is at its prime in the winter months and the holidays are a time for intimate gatherings with friends and family—to celebrate, laugh, and enjoy each other’s company. The awe-inspiring beauty of the redwood forest and with the desire to gather with loved ones inspired this shoot.

To create a comfortable and cozy atmosphere, I opted to use a low seated table with pillows and blankets in lieu of chairs. I built the table with the intention of making it easy to transport and put together. The tabletop rests upon two wooden benches, so it is ideal to take apart and carry down a small hillside to the perfect picnic spot.

I wanted to incorporate some handmade elements into this holiday shoot and I love the velvet trend that we are seeing in wedding collections this season. I sourced the green and blue velvet fabric and sewed the napkins into 22”x 22” squares. I wanted to showcase the napkins’ color and texture, so I used them as chargers or placemats for the gold-rimmed plates. I used a wood-burning pen to write the words “JOY”, “LOVE”, and “PEACE” on the tree rings placed on each setting. I chose these three words because they really embody the feelings you feel when you are with dear friends and family. I also think that we could use a little more of each of these in 2018.

The goal of this styled shoot is to serve as inspiration for holiday tables and décor across all faiths and religions. It is a celebration of the richness, textures, and colors that the winter season brings us.
