Backyard Micro Wedding in Los Angeles During the Covid-19 Pandemic

This year has been tough on engaged couples. The Covid-19 Pandemic has put them in constant limbo. Forcing them to make difficult decisions about their wedding that they never thought they’d have to.

My heart breaks every time I hear about a couple having to postpone their wedding plans. Or even worse, having to modify the wedding they were dreaming about for years.

Let me tell you though: Megan & Spencer made some real good lemonade out of the lemons this year dealt them. They celebrated the start of their marriage on their original wedding date in Spencer’s childhood backyard in Los Angeles. And let me tell you, it was one of the most special events I’ve been lucky enough to photograph.

My first photo of Megan & Spencer was on the dance floor on New Year’s Eve in 2019. At that time Meg was a bridesmaid at her friend Erica’s wedding. Soon after, Meg & Spencer reached out to let me know they were engaged and planning a big wedding in San Luis Obispo.

As we approached early Spring, it became clear that the plans needed to change a bit. But Meg & Spencer were adamant — “we are getting married this year”.

The COVID Wedding Of The Year

With the help of some incredibly talented people, Meg & Spencer planned a beautiful backyard ceremony and reception for their immediate families. They enlisted the help of floral genius, Inessa Nichols for a ceremony arch that I still can’t stop gawking at. To keep everyone safe, she, myself, and the entire vendor team wore masks for the entirety of our time at the wedding.

I hope the photos of this special day are inspiring if you’re planning a 2021 COVID wedding. Looking for more of these cuties? Check out their San Francisco engagement session HERE!
